The Associate Director of Communications plays a critical role in supporting the communication and marketing efforts of a large statewide professional association. This highly organized and detail-oriented individual will work closely with the Director of Communications to plan and execute member-focused marketing initiatives, oversee the production of key publications, and assist in maintaining the association’s social media presence.
The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with experience in membership communications, event marketing, or similar roles within a professional association setting. They must excel at juggling multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
Plan, develop, and implement marketing strategies to promote association seminars, events, and member services.
Coordinate with outside marketing consultants on the design and production of promotional materials.
Develop, schedule and distribute marketing materials, including emails, brochures, flyers, and other collateral.
Assist in maintaining the TTLA website with timely, engaging content that reflects the organization’s programs and priorities.
Coordinate production of video content for use in marketing, promotion, and member engagement.
Ensure brand consistency across all marketing and communication channels.
Membership Engagement
Utilize association management software to compile distribution lists, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Coordinate member communications, including newsletters, event announcements, and updates.
Graphic Design & Social Media
Create engaging content for the association’s social media platforms to boost engagement and visibility.
Design graphics for print and digital marketing campaigns, adhering to brand guidelines.
Event Support
Collaborate with the events team to develop marketing plans and materials for seminars and conferences.
Provide on-site event support as needed.
Publications
Oversee the production and distribution of the annual member directory, including managing content, layout, and vendor coordination.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, membership engagement, event planning, or marketing, preferably within a professional association.
Proficiency in graphic design software, as well as member/customer relations management software and email marketing platforms.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
