Graduate Assistant Requirements
Admission to the School of Graduate Studies and a Master’s Program at Southeast Missouri State
Maintain a 3.0 GPA in their selected area of study during graduate school
Compensation:
$1,100 monthly stipend (paid bi-weekly), plus the opportunity to earn additional hourly wage during summer and break periods as mutually agreed upon with supervisor.
Graduate assistant will receive full tuition waiver for up to 9 credit hours per semester (Fall/Spring), plus opportunity to apply for additional tuition waiver for summer term.

Southeast Missouri State University, an NCAA Division I member of the Ohio Valley Conference located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is seeking applications for a graduate assistant to provide support to the Department of Athletics while gaining invaluable experience in strategic communications.
SEMO is the winner of the OVC Commissioner's Cup in two of the past four school years, and has won more conference championships than any other school in the OVC since 2019. Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Brady Barke was named NACDA Athletic Director of the Year in 2022.
The University has a total enrollment of nearly 10,000 students in Cape Girardeau, MO, situated near the bank of the Mississippi River in a community of over 80,000 in Cape Girardeau County. Cape Girardeau is located on Interstate 55, approximately two hours south of St. Louis, and three hours north of Memphis.
Responsibilities:
Assist the director and assistant director in publicizing Southeast Missouri’s 15-sport intercollegiate athletics program
Oversight for multiple sports, while helping with home event management for all other sports as needed
Communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with student-athletes, coaches, administrators and other University personnel
Work directly with scoring software to compile official NCAA statistics for various sports, while also serving on statistical crews for volleyball, football and basketball
Assist with generating graphics and content for the department’s website, SEMORedhawks.com, and social media channels
Assist with producing game notes, media guides and game programs, and assist with all other duties as assigned
Assist with training and supervision of student and volunteer staff in the strategic communications department
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment
Must be willing to work during home events, at night and on weekends
Position will include travel to select athletic and conference championship events
Required Qualifications:
Minimum one year of related work or volunteer experience in sports information/athletic communications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in journalism, communications, sports management or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
Previous experience working with NCAA Live Stats and Stat Crew programs preferred
Experience working with both Apple and Microsoft computers, and Adobe InDesign and Photoshop software
