Job Title: Lower School Early Childhood Teacher (Pre-kindergarten)

As we look ahead to the 2025-2026 academic year, King School will open an additional PreK (ages 3-5) class. This is a unique opportunity for an innovative, experienced early childhood educator to help design classroom space, enhance an already excellent program, and collaborate with our PreK and Kindergarten early childhood educators at King.
Summary: King School seeks a full-time lower school Pre-Kindergarten educator who will report to the Head of Lower School. This teacher will be a member of the Early Childhood team and work in partnership with other talented early childhood educators to deliver a comprehensive, creative, developmentally appropriate program to three-, four-, and five-year-olds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design of early childhood classroom space using Reggio-inspired materials and resources.
Construct purposeful routines and emergent curriculum appropriate to 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds.
Plan emergent curriculum with team members, including coordination withthe Director of Teaching and Learning and Lower School Head.
Use The Project Approach (Chard/Katz) to develop an integrated curriculum that builds cognitive and social/emotional skills.
Regularly assess students and develop lessons that align with the student interests, integrating the arts, science, and other traditionally academic areas.
Manage, assess, and articulate classroom needs for resources and programmatic growth.
Document student learning in visually interesting and informative ways.? Work with the Admission Office and Marketing/Communications department to highlight the program and build greater understanding of work in the broader community.
Plan and participate in parent/teacher conferences and write reports on student progress using the MyKing system.
Use the MyKing portal and the Seesaw platform to share regular updates on curriculum and the student experience.
Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development.
Work collaboratively with other adults in an early childhood setting.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Lower School.

Full-time, exempt.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred with at least four years of teaching experience
Knowledge and experience with Reggio-inspired curriculum and The Project Approach (Katz).
Proven ability to design an early childhood classroom environment, to create emergent curriculum, and develop documentation to share specifics of programmatic work with multiple constituencies.
Excellent communication skills and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues and parents.
A willingness to work with the Lower School Head to market the program, with a goal of building enrollment.
An interest and willingness to embrace King’s mission, virtues, and diversity policy statement.
A strong affinity for young children, flexibility, and a sense of humor are required.
Demonstrated cross-cultural competence--ability to effectively teach, learn, and engage in a multicultural environment with a diverse student body--in pedagogical practice and multicultural curriculum content.
