Commitment & Work Expectations
The Graduate Assistant is expected to work 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters within the outlined contract dates. Work schedules will be determined and monitored by the area supervisor.
Fall stipend and work dates: August 16 – December 15, 2026
Spring stipend and work dates: January 16 – May 15, 2027
Any approved work outside of these dates will be compensated at the standard Boston College student rate for the position.
Graduate Assistants must coordinate with area managers on work schedules, including adjustments for university holidays.
Personal/Sick/Snow Days Policy
6 sick days allotted for the academic year.
If scheduled to work during a snow day, hours must be made up unless instructed otherwise.
Schedule adjustments may be made within the same week with manager approval.
Compensation & Benefits
Stipend: $15,000 total ($1,875 per month over an 8-month period). Payments occur on the 16th of each month, excluding August and January.
Tuition Support: Up to $22,000 for the academic year.
Campus Recreation Membership: Academic year membership to Boston College Campus Recreation.
Professional Development: Opportunities for travel and certification support (subject to approval).

Boston College Campus Recreation is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Marketing & Communications for the Fall 2026 – Spring 2027 academic year to support the Marketing & Communications Manager in implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing engagement, increasing program participation, and supporting revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and executing a marketing strategy that promotes Campus Recreation programs, services, and initiatives.
Create and manage marketing materials, including graphics, videos, animations, and digital content tailored to various target audiences.
Maintain and expand social media presence (Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms) with engaging and consistent messaging.
Design promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite (or similar software) for events, memberships, and other initiatives.
Develop engaging website content to inform and attract participants.
Contribute to digital marketing campaigns, conduct surveys, and participate in projects aimed at boosting engagement and participation.
Explore new communication strategies and tools to enhance outreach and community involvement.
Provide leadership and mentorship to student marketing team members, offering feedback and support.
Represent Campus Recreation at events to promote programs and initiatives.
Perform additional marketing and communication-related duties as needed.
Requirements

Graduate Assistant: Competitive Sports and Recreational Summer Camps
The Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports is responsible for assisting the Competitive Sports Programmatic Staff (Assistant Director and two Coordinators) in developing and organizing the comprehensive Intramural and Club Sports programs that serves a diverse university community of nearly 15,000 students and faculty/staff. This includes the evaluation, supervision, and marketing of the programs as well. This position will be assisting in the planning of annual special events. This person will also represent the university at local, state, regional, and national clinics, conferences, and workshops.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the recruitment and hiring of student staff for the Competitive Sports program.
Lead and oversee training sessions for student sports officials, Competitive Sports supervisors, and office staff.
Create and coordinate schedules for Competitive Sports student staff.
Assist the Competitive Sports Coordinators with Intramural League registration and scheduling using IMLeagues.
Provide on-site supervision of nightly Intramural and Sport Club events as needed; some weekends are required.
Provide administrative support for a dynamic Club Sports program including but not limited to travel planning, budgeting, financial allocations, team oversight, officer training sessions, event coordination and conduct.
Additional Responsibilities
A daily contribution to the positive atmosphere of Boston College Campus Recreation, specifically the Intramural department and its students.
The ability and willingness to operate Club Sports vans for programmatic needs.
Conduct performance evaluations with the Intramural student sports officials.
Assist in coordinating the logistics of the daily operations within the Competitive Sports program.
Responsible for the direct supervision of the student sports officials, office assistants & supervisors.
Assist in the maintenance and tracking of Competitive Sports equipment and make suggestions for equipment budget allocations.
Participate in the revision of Intramural and Club Sport policies and handbooks.
Plan a comprehensive and complete calendar of all Intramural events for the full academic year.
Adhere to daily office hours.
Assist with departmental special events.
Assist in maintenance of Intramural Social Media accounts.
Track, maintain, and organize Intramural participation statistics for annual reports.
Assist with the planning and facilitation of Club Sport officer training sessions.
Provide on-site support for Competitive Sports programming at 3 separate Boston College campuses with 2 additional sites anticipated.
Work to improve self and program on a daily basis.
During the spring semester, provide assistance in planning the summer program Eagles Rec Camp.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduate Assistant: Aquatics
The Graduate Assistant for Aquatics at Campus Recreation is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Aquatics, Instructional, and Risk Management Programming in providing a high level of customer service and risk management oversight for all lifeguarding and aquatic, instructional, and risk programming needs. This position requires strong communication skills and a background in lifeguarding and student staff supervision. This person will also work with other Campus Recreation professionals and University groups.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and mentor over 70 student employees that serve as lifeguards or head lifeguards.
Conduct regular in-service training as mandated by regulations.
Schedule lifeguard and head lifeguard positions to meet required ratio and provide a safe environment for all internal and external group use of aquatic facilities.
Additional Responsibilities Include
A daily contribution to the positive atmosphere of Boston College Campus Recreation.
Assist in supervising student employees, oversee them through projects, and provide guidance and training when needed.
Work to improve self and program on a daily basis.

Youth Summer Camp Internship
General:
Assisting the Associate Director of Programming & Student Employee Development, the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports & Recreational Day Camp, and the two Coordinators of Competitive Sport & Recreational Day Camp in day to day activities. Focusing on the successful operation of our recreational summer day camp (Eagles Rec Camp) with potential opportunities to assist in facets of competitive sports.
Major Responsibilities:
Supervise daily camp activities which includes helping set up activities, the oversight of student camp staff, and the oversight of campers.
Manage camp counselor schedules for 10+ staff.
Shared responsibility with pool time activities during camp (including being in the water).
Assist with the collection of camper information for the start of camp.
Assist with planning and execution of weeklong training for camp staff.
Attend off site summer camp training.
Put together daily schedules for camp.
Assist in any aspect of competitive sports asked by the Assistant Director or Coordinators of Competitive Sports and Recreational Day Camps
Other Responsibilities:
Assist professional staff with the hiring of camp staff.
Help manage camp staff binder which includes the training and medical information of staff.
Serve as a backup camp nurse, which includes attending Epi-Pen training, being responsible for carrying the first aid kit and being the first to respond in the event of injury, and submitting reports of major injury to the DPH.
Organize daily camp schedules for camp along with the camp staff
Communicate with parents via email about different aspects of camp.
Provide a voice in conversations regarding camper management and discipline
Intern is expected to bring new ideas for camp activities, crafts and overall administration.
Commitment:
Start / End dates flexible; late May through Early August
If at any time an Intern cannot make a scheduled event or needs time off for personal reasons they are required to notify their direct supervisor.
First Aid, CPR/AED current certifications (or ability to obtain) required for duration of appointment.

Must have prior experience working with children from ages 7-12
