Graduate Assistantship contract will run early-August to early-May with a two year Campus Recreation assistantship commitment. Second year renewable based on performance evaluation of 1st year.
If a student’s bill amount is greater than awarded amount of the tuition scholarship, the student is responsible for the balance on their student account. Eligible expenses on the student account includes tuition and nonresident fees.
Once enrolled and hired, graduate assistants must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their graduate course work.
Candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree. Candidate must be accepted and enrolled into the Indiana State University Graduate School. Graduate Assistants must maintain all
graduate school enrollment and progression requirements to sustain eligibility. Confirmation of offer is contingent upon acceptance into Graduate School. Graduate programs of common interest are Exercise Science, Public Health, Physical Education, Sport Management, etc.
This position has direct oversight for student staff and assists with membership services/Point of Sale(Fusion)/event management and marketing/communications for the department.
Candidates must have 1-4 years of experience working in a Campus Recreation environment, priority will be given to those applicants who have experience working in facility, membership & departmental operations, staffing, & student development. Previous experience with the online scheduling program WhenToWork.com is a plus. Candidates should aspire toward a career in campus recreation or a related field. Previous experience with Fusion software is a plus. The desired start date is for this position is June 2026.

*Intramural Sports & Club Sports*
Intramural Sports Responsibilities: Coordinate the training, scheduling and evaluating sports officials and supervisors, conduct student staff meetings, scheduling games and create league and tournament brackets via imleagues.com, assist with onsite supervision of games, market programs, facilitate student staff payroll, conduct sport participant meetings, update and enforce policies. Club Sports Responsibilities: Advise leadership of club sports organizations, provide leadership development, ensure risk management practices, assist clubs with budgeting, facility requests, marketing, and travel paperwork, assist with event supervision as needed, assist with the development of new sports clubs. Attend required Division of Student Experience and Engagement meetings/events and various university functions, maintain positive and professional attitude toward ISU and Campus Recreation, and assist with other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have 1-4 years’ experience in a Campus Recreation environment. Priority

The Graduate Assistant of Fitness is primarily responsible for supervising the daily operation of all Fitness Staff including Fitness Floor Attendants, Personal Trainers and Group Exercise Instructors. The Graduate Assistant will play a large role in educating staff to facilitate personal and professional growth throughout the duration of his/her employment within the Department of Campus Recreation. Candidates must possess strong leadership, written and verbal communication skills.
Candidates must have 1-4 years’ experience in a Campus Recreation environment. Must have experience teaching group exercise classes and/or personal training experience. Priority consideration will be given to those applicants who have experience working in fitness center environments and with student development.
