A compensation package for the selected candidate will include a base salary commensurate with experience and Atlantic Sun Conference Staff salary ranges.
Benefits include annual vacation and leave, medical and dental insurance, retirement matching, and other benefits in accordance with Atlantic Sun Conference policy.
The Atlantic Sun Conference offices operate on a 5-day work week, allowing all staff to select one weekday (limited to Monday or Friday) to work remotely from home each week. Due to the nature of collegiate athletics, all full-time staff are expected to travel occasionally and be available during nights and weekends if necessary.
The Director of Strategic Communications serves as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference’s external operations team and reports to the Senior Associate Commissioner for External Operations. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, creativity, intrinsic motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sports Information Responsible for the coordination of all ASUN communications activities including press releases, press conferences, and media coordination. Responsible for the management of the website. Update sports information including standings, statistics, and record books. Responsible for the coordination and selection of ASUN Awards, including weekly and seasonal selections. Responsible for the management of record books.
Social Media Content and Management Anticipate and execute new forms of digital content and the use of new platforms to strategically communicate and promote the Conference and its membership. Responsible for the development and production of content in support of the ASUN’s overall digital strategy; including the creation and execution of content for social media to Strategically Communicate the promotion of the Conference and its membership; create content (written, graphic, photo, video) for distribution in support of the digital strategy. Work with campus colleagues to identify story ideas and produce content to increase engagement. Assist in the management of social media platforms in alignment with the ASUN’s digital strategy. Assist with the continual development and execution of the ASUN digital strategy, including the analysis of relevant analytics.
External Team Serve as a key member of the External Operations Team; leading promotion of the conference and its membership through strategic communications including written and digital/social content strategies. Assist with sponsorship fulfillment and assignments in support of the external team goals and objectives.
Championships & Events Travel to and provide on-site support/coverage for ASUN championships and events.
Other Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Commissioner to support the overall success of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Preferred qualifications for this position include: A Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree. Significant experience and understanding of intercollegiate athletics communications. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite / Photoshop. Knowledge and experience in social and digital media including X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and/or other digital media platforms. Ability to anticipate and execute new forms of digital content and the use of new platforms to strategically communicate and promote the Conference and its membership. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage and lead staff. Ability to relocate to Jacksonville, Florida. A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. A willingness to travel and work extended hours (nights and weekends) as necessary.
